wow...that was a loaded question...

I've been married for 8 years...and it keeps getting better and better!...of course sometimes i don't sound like it when i'm yelling at my kids and beggin for some time alone. lol....but that's another answer for a different question....

Uh...my wife was my first real girlfriend...for 3 years....and not to sound to cliche'ish... I just knew...

Love is a choice...i choice to love her everyday...

feelings are great...but don't base too much on it...they fade...

Tony you are absolutely right. I forgot to add in the miracles of healing. Though what I was refering to was the many miracles that have replaced the healings. Most people are caught away by the miracles of gold dust, teeth, angels appearing, and whatever else. If we go along with the crowd we can easily be mislead. I agree that some things that are from God aren't necessarily in the Bible, even the Bible itself admits there are things that have been done by God that aren't added in there. However, if we lust after mana, we will soon get tired of it. :)

Interesting thoughts, Ed. I saw a documentary a few years ago called The Finger of God that really opened my eyes to a lot of the "manifestations" that you are talking about here. It shined a light on a lot of the skepticism that exists and then presents quite a different perspective. Highly recommended if for nothing else than to give you a different lens to view modern day miracles.

As far as the few miracles that you did point out, I'm going to have to bring up the numerous times that you see healing throughout the New Testament. Miracles didn't end with the experience at Pentacost. There are tons from Matthew to Revelation.

One last thought. I see a lot of people use the "It's not in the Bible" argument to support their perspective on some of the physical manifestations that happen. The problem is that if you use that as the foundation of your argument, you're building a house of cards.

What about the pastoral role as we see it today? What about seminary? What about church "buildings" rather than meeting in homes?

If we used the logic of "If it's not in the Bible, then we shouldn't do it" then we have to throw out a HUGE amount of what we do today (you can read Pagan Christianity by Frank Viola for more on that).

More than looking at manifestations as scriptural/unscriptural, a better way may be to look at it as consistent with how God has operated throughout the Biblical narrative. Is it consistent in the ways we see people respond when filled with the Holy Spirit.

Just because it isn't documented in the Bible, doesn't mean that it isn't from God. Or it doesn't mean that it isn't in "response" to God. If you misinterpret what the Holy Spirit is doing, you might find yourself calling people drunk (Acts 2:15) when they are just responding to what God is doing.

Obviously there is a bunch of craziness happening out there. But you can't throw the baby out with the bath water.

Eddy ... I have a love/hate relationship with running. I love to do it, love how I feel when I'm done, but hate getting up and getting started. I know it's good for me and I know it makes me feel better about myself, and so I keep on keeping on.

I think my marriage is a dedication friendship as well...my wife is my best friend! Marriage (outside of following Christ) is the best adventure on the planet. It will challenge, shape and rearrange you in ways you can't imagine. That's what becoming one is all about.

I'm so thankful God doesn't see us as the universal church. If so, I'd bring a few people down I'm afraid. Christians tend to get confused once in a while, and I'm glad God takes the time to fix each of us on a personal level.

Sorry I missed this Ed. I am a morning person. Get up early (3:00 now pushed to 4:00 thanks to a cycling trainer who said I was getting enough sleep) and start my day. But the mornings are not for everyone. I say find a time that is most right for you to have your personal time with God. Don't allow anyone to guilt you into the morning. God will understand.

Hey Eddy. have seen your comments on big matt's blog and now at jason's and didn't know you had a blog. So thought I would check it out. You are gifted my blog friend. To answer your question: Spiderman, although I would think it would be cool to have Batman's ability to do things without super powers. just his mind. My real hero was MacGyver. LOL I feel as though God has given me a pastor's/shepherd's heart to feel for others, as well as the desire to be with others and invest time in them. Take care. God has given me success in academics, and an ability with commication. I love speaking and writing, and try to use that to reach out to people. I'm also the best head-to-head Tetris player I know. heh.
